The most important reason I am conservative is because I believe in free, unregulated speech. People should be able to express their beliefs in order for the society to properly understand all issues and innovate.

I am conservative because I believe in the principles of limited government and the power of the individual. Taxes should only be dictated for necessity at the hands of the legislature, and the people as individuals are the ultimate sources of power. Further, over-regulation is dangerous because it limits the power of the individual to create unique products in the market. When the government violates the rights of the people, the people have the right to challenge this government through the courts. The government also has the right to prosecute those who violate the law, and the people have the right to elect new officials to change that law if they deem it to be unnecessary. The government must defend the nation against aggressors as a whole in order to protect the rights and freedoms of the people protected under our laws. However, it may not violate the rights and privileges of individuals who do not violate the law or attack the state. Through constitutional conservatism, people can best thrive.
