George Mason University

I grew up in a very small town in central Virginia, where it seemed like everyone’s ideas about politics were either the same or nonexistent. Coming to George Mason University, I was surrounded by people whose ideas were completely different from mine— and I had no idea how to approach them. I found myself being self-conscious about my views, especially when a liberal professor wanted to mock conservative values. When I first checked out NeW at Mason, I quickly found a place where I was surrounded by young women who shared some of the same ideals as me. Since joining the Chapter, I have been able to participate in discussions about issues that I would have been intimidated to have a discourse about before. I am a conservative because I believe firmly in the Constitution, equality for all, and limited government.
