Why I am a NeW Woman

May 6, 2010 | NeW Staff

I am a NeW woman because I believe in a woman’s right to create her own destiny. I choose not to succumb to what is expected of me from a societal standpoint.

I believe that raising a family is equally as important as any career. I don’t think a woman should have to do either if she doesn’t want to. The fact of the matter is that no woman should be made to feel inferior for choosing to devote herself to either role.

I believe femininity does not need to be stripped from the workplace. If I want to wear pink every day of my professional life I should be able to do so. I don’t feel like I should have to conform to the dress standards of men. I would take pearls and pumps over loafers and pants any day.

I am a NeW woman because I enjoy conversing with other conservative women. Conservative women are sometimes hard to come by on a college campus. It’s such a joy to be able to discuss important moral, ethical, legal, and political issues in a safe environment free from personal attacks. NeW is a place to grow, learn, and share.

I am a NeW woman for many of the same reasons I am a conservative. I believe in limited government, free markets, and strong national defense. Most importantly I believe in God, country, and family.

Did I mention I also really just like book clubs? I really couldn’t think of a better way to spend an evening.

I treasure NeW because it has connected me with so many other amazing women I otherwise wouldn’t have met. Here’s to being a New woman!
