The Debate Over Wage Gap Continues

August 20, 2012 | Sarah

Last week, Ramesh Ponnuru wrote an article for Bloomberg called “Don’t Blame Discrimination for Gender Wage Gap.” It was in response to a June article in the Huffington Post demanding equal pay. Ponnuru’s article detailed the statistical inaccuracies and the reality of the choices women make in the workforce that are behind the pay inequality.

This is well-trod area, and like earlier this year, a series of responses, defenses and accusations have come out as a result from this article. Jezebel, a Gawker media blog devoted to women, see Ponnuru’s article as a message to feminists to shut up and stop complaining. IWF’s Managing Director Carrie Lukas then responded at the Huffington Post with the message that those who trumpet women’s rights will never be happy with proof of equality, and that larger issues are at play.

As the debate wages on, what are your thoughts about the Wage Gap? Have you found other articles on the Internet that contribute to this discussion?
