Something NeW at UCF

January 26, 2010 | NeW Staff

It’s amazing to see how the NeW network has expanded far and wide in only 5 years.  We have chapters from the east coast to the west coast and everywhere in between.  So many women are taking a stand for what they believe in and making a difference on their campuses.  I want to share some exciting news: a chapter has just been launched at the University of Central Florida.  We are thrilled to welcome UCF women to the NeW network and look forward to great things from this chapter.  I asked Stephanie, the founder at UCF, why she was interested in starting a New chapter.  Her response was inspiring:

“There is a void in club and organizational groups designed for conservatives at the collegiate level.  With the creation of NeW at UCF, I and several other women on campus will have the opportunity to stand up for women’s rights in a way that we have previously been unable to accomplish.  Currently, UCF, in the areas of women’s rights and women’s organizations, tailors to NOW (National Organization of Women) and VOX (Voices for Planned Parenthood).  It is my hope that NeW can help women at UCF feel comfortable in expressing views that differ from radical feminism and ‘unclassy’ behavior.  NeW would provide my university with the ability to speak out on issues from a conservative prospective and show that not all women think that feminism is the right way to get our ideas and goals achieved.”

Good luck to Stephanie and the other NeW women at UCF!  If you are a student at UCF or know someone who is, please email [email protected] to get connected with this chapter!
