Situation for U.S. Women not so Awful

I think Karin’s article is right on point, especially given a scan of the headlines this morning:

Serena Williams won her third U.S. Open title.

Britney Spears won a few Video Music Awards.

Sarah Palin has won McCain an increase in support.

I don’t mean to say that all of these women are excellent role models or that their successes represent all that is going on in the world. These headlines just reveal how wonderful women have it in the U.S.: dominating the top stories in entertainment, politics and even sports. The liberation of women in the U.S. is even further demonstrated to me because as I write this, the two (female) news anchors on CNN are announcing this story.
