Prologue of the Online Book Club This Week!

January 27, 2014 | Alexandra Gourdikian

This week during our online book club we will be discussing the Prologue to Wonder Women: Sex, Power and the Quest to Perfection by Deborah Spar.

Spar shares with us stories from the time she was a graduate student at Harvard University and fell in love with her husband, to her experience as a professor at Harvard Business School, and to present day as the President of Barnard College.  She also outlines her reasoning and inspiration for authoring this work.  She explains this book is a cultural survey of the women’s movement from the 1960’s to present day.  She concentrates on areas where she believes the feminist movement succeeded and areas in which she believes they could have used different tactics.  Specifically, Spar encourages men and women to embrace their differences, she also challenges women to cease their quest for perfection simply because they are women.

We look forward to you reading along with us and sharing your thoughts!
