NeW Senior Spotlight: Alexandra from Ohio State University

May 17, 2010 | NeW Staff

Today, NeW honors Alexandra McClanahan, a graduating senior from Ohio State University.  The NeW chapter at Ohio State started last spring and has grown significantly in one year.  During Alex’s time as a leader at NeW at OSU, the chapter brought NeW founder Karin Agness to speak to the campus.  Thank you Alex, for your commitment to NeW and helping to grow the NeW chapter at Ohio State so quickly.  Congratulations!

How Long have you been involved in NeW?

The past 4 quarters

Did you hold any Leadership Positions?

Executive Director for the last year

What has been the most rewarding experience during your involvement in NeW?

Making great t-shirts and bonding with girls I would have never known without NeW.

What is something you learned in your NeW Book Club?

Betty Friedan is not crazy; she is just misquoted by third-wave feminists.

Do you plan to stay involved in the conservative movement and/or politics after graduation?  If so, how?

Yes, voting regularly and campaigning for candidates of the GOP.

What advice would you leave to younger members of NeW?

This club gave me so much in my undergrad. I can’t believe it’s over, but I will remember all the great talks with my group members forever.

And some special remarks from NeW at OSU co-chair, Danelle:

“Alex is a wonderful young lady and brings a lot to NeW. She has an ability to pick up on the small details in the books we’re reading and always has a funny anecdote to go along with our discussions! She will be greatly missed when she graduates.”

NeW at OSU hosted Karin Agness to speak on Women’s

Rights last November. Alex is the second from the left.
