NeW at UF Update!

March 4, 2011 | Elizabeth

The Network of enlightened Women Chapter at UF is excited and ready for Women’s History Month. Although we are headed to the beach next week for spring break, we’ve got plans to bring conservative minded individuals together on our campus when we get back.  And we are enjoying our book this semester.

On March 15 at 7pm we will be hosting a speaker from The Heritage Foundation to talk about, Budget Battles: Our Fight for our Fiscal Future.  Our meeting on March 15th will be informative and bring both men and women  together to discuss the financial crisis in our country.

On March 19, NeW at UF will be running in a charity 5k. This is our semester service project and we will be Running for Water: Benefiting H20 for life in Sudan. This is also a part of Women’s History Month as many women’s groups will be joining forces for this great cause. We are excited to get out there in our NeW shirts and run for Sudan!

On March 31, we are inviting a speaker to talk about running for political office after college. Also a part of Women’s History Month, we would like to give the female students at UF insight on what it is like to run for political office. The speaker ran for the House of Representatives right after college and has some interesting tips on what to do.  This will be a really educational experience.

And, we are excited to announce that after our successful meeting with STRIVE, we will be a part of Sexual Assault Awareness Week which occurs in April. We are going to be selling cookies for a cause which will benefit an organization in Gainesville that helps single mothers and homeless mothers.

We are also planning another NeW social and hope to get together with the FSU Chapter.

A lot of great NeW stuff is being planned in Florida, if you are in the area, you should come visit sometime!
