October 26, 2013 | NeW

We like to take the time to highlight some of the amazing women involved with NeW. Today, we feature an interview with Lauren Radzevich, founder of NeW at Virginia Tech (VT). Lauren has done an excellent job with starting a NeW chapter at VT this semester and we are so excited to work with her!

Q: How did you first hear about NeW?

I first heard about NeW on Google. I was searching for conservative organizations on college campuses and NeW was one of the first organizations that I came across.

Q: Tell us a little bit about yourself and why you became involved in NeW?

I am a junior majoring in Political Science and Public Relations at Virginia Tech. I am extremely passionate about politics and look forward to entering the field after graduation. I became involved in NeW because I was looking to start something that reflected my interests as a conservative woman. I felt like there weren’t a lot of outlets on campus for women to share their views on conservatism, politics, and key issues.

Q: What appeals to you about NeW?

I really like how NeW creates this sense of a shared community and identity for conservative college women across the nation. NeW is something that gives women a chance to share their opinions and set positive goals for themselves, while incorporating conservative values.

Q: What made you want to start a NeW chapter?

I wanted to start  a NeW chapter so conservative women, like myself, could have an outlet of supportive, like-minded women. I feel like NeW fills the void for conservative women who feel isolated and suppressed by a predominantly liberal mindset on campus.

Q: How do you benefit by being a part of NeW? What is the best part of being involved with NeW?

I feel that I benefit immensely from being a part of NeW. As the VT chapter president, I am able to learn valuable leadership skills. I feel that I am able to help women on campus by encouraging them to make the most of their college experience by getting involved in this incredible organization. The best part for me is that I am able to learn by reading different books about topics that really interest me.

Q: What makes you the most excited about being a part of NeW?

I am most excited to be a part of a community of women who are passionate about conservatism! I look forward to all of the networking opportunities NeW presents, such as the national conference. It’s comforting to know that there are successful female leaders that value the same things as me.
