Kate Obenshain at UVA

October 31, 2009 | NeW Staff

Thursday, October 29th The Network of enlightened Women at UVA along with The College Republicans, The Burke Society, and The Liberty Coalition, hosted Kate Obenshain. Kate is a UVA alumna and we were thrilled to bring her back to speak at her alma mater. Along with the organizations at UVA we worked with conservative community groups. With the help of The Clare Boothe Luce Policy Institute and Young America’s Foundation, it was a very successful event.

Kate’s speech was titled “Who’s you daddy? A fresh look at the fathers of freedom.” Kate used stories about and quotes from our founding fathers to express to us how America is moving away from the the original intentions that our Founders outlined in the Constitution. The speech was very powerful and many people were influenced by what she shared with us. We had around 70 people in attendance including UVA students, community members, high school students, and our conservative radio hosts in Charlottesville, Joe Thomas and Rob Schilling. Afterwards we hosted a coffee and dessert receptions where the UVA organizations networked with the high schoolers and had a chance to tell them about our organizations. Overall the night was very nice and a great success.
