Spotlight on: Laura Chinchilla

Chinchilla is the newly elected first female President of Costa Rica who won the Presidency last Sunday and will take office May 8. She joins the ranks of other Latin American female Presidents including
Chile’s Michelle Bachelet and Argentina’s Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner. While Chinchilla is known for her social conservative and pro-business platform, I am most excited about her take on women’s issues in Latin America.

Deacon Fournier of writes:

She is a woman of principle, substance and dedication to the truth. She is a feminist, but of the “New Feminism” style… not the strident Planned Parenthood counterfeit.

Congratulations to Chinchilla on your victory for the real pro-woman movement.
