Good News for Conservatives: You’re Not Alone!

October 26, 2009 | NeW Staff

A new poll by Gallup released first this summer and again this fall reports that the number of American conservatives is larger than that of liberals or moderates.  In a poll, 40% identified themselves as conservatives, 36% as moderate, and 20% as liberal.

Americans moved to the right on several issues as well, one of which I found to be most encouraging and relevant for NeW.  In 2008, 48% surveyed wanted to “promote traditional values.”  In 2009, the number of Americans who supported traditional values jumped to 53%.

Wow!  You would never know those facts if you paid attention to mainstream media solely.  This should be encouraging news to NeW women to keep fighting for our beliefs.   A majority of Americans favor traditional values, and we have a great opportunity to speak out for what we believe.  Let’s continue to advocate for these issues on our campuses and be a strong united voice!
