First Lady Appreciation Day at UCF
March 17, 2010 | NeW Staff
Happy Women’s History Month! What are you doing to celebrate? The NeW women at UCF held a First Lady Appreciation Day to recognize great women in history and to introduce NeW to the campus. Great idea! Here’s a recount from NeW at UCF President, Stephanie:
The ladies of NeW at UCF recently hosted First Lady Day–an event in which we informed our student body about NeW and Women’s History Month. We tabled outside of the UCF Student Union with a poster board, fliers for our meetings, and cookies. While the baked goods might have enticed some students to approach our table, a lot of students and faculty were genuinely interested in our event and we were able to discuss the accomplishments of such women as Nancy Reagan, Laura Bush, and Jackie Kennedy. For our poster board, we listed all these distinguished ladies and then focused our attention on 8 women in particular to acknowledge their contributions to society. Not only did our members have a chance to promote Women’s History Month, we were also able to inform UCF about our organization, which is really beneficial for a new NeW chapter. Overall, it was a successful event and one that we will probably host next year as well.
Sounds like a great way to educate and promote NeW. Congratulations on a successful event UCF!
