Chapter 9 of the Online Book Club this Week!

April 7, 2014 | Alexandra Gourdikian

This week during the Online Book Club we will be discussing Chapter 9 of Wonder Women: Sex, Power, and the Quest for Perfection, “Memories of My Waist.”

Aging is an unavoidable phase of life for both men and women. For most women, menopause is the initial sign that aging has begun. During menopause women’s bodies undergo transitions specifically affecting their reproductive capabilities and their physical attributes. Many women wage war against menopausal side effects with lotions and cosmetic procedures in an effort to preserve their beauty.  Feminism sought to obliterate women’s obsession with outer beauty, and encouraged females to focus on their good deeds and inner beauty, especially as they aged. However, women are concerned about their outer beauty and therefore never cease to strive for it. Spar suggests that women (and men) must accept the aging process even while in the midst of challenging it!

We hope you will join in our discussion this week!
