Each month, NeW is proud to highlight a NeW alumna. Today, we would like to feature Sarah-Gordon Goddard, a NeW alumna from The King’s College. Sarah-Gordon is also on leadership for our NeW Alumnae Network.
When and where were you involved with NeW on campus?
I was involved with NeW at The King’s College in NYC where I founded a chapter in Fall 2010 at the beginning of my Junior year.
What drew you to NeW originally?
I was an intern at The Heritage Foundation during the summer of 2010, which is where NeW holds their annual national conference. I attended the conference and was so intrigued by the quality of the other women in the room. I loved the idea of bringing the conversation we had that day to my peers at The King’s College.
What was your favorite thing about being involved with NeW?
I loved having the opportunity to generate necessary and relevant conversation among my friends and fellow students. NeW at The King’s College was primarily focused on hosting events about topical political and cultural issues that would involve the whole student body.
How has NeW shaped your post-college experience?
Being involved in NeW helped me to understand that even as a college student, you can affect major change if you are able to understand and articulate ideas about life, America, women, religion, just to name a few. NeW enabled me to begin thinking about and discussing ideas out loud which has helped immensely in post-college life.
What have you done since graduation?
I moved back to Richmond, VA after traveling to China during the summer after graduation. I began working in radio advertising and have since moved into digital advertising where I manage online advertising campaigns. I have also become heavily involved in Richmond’s young professional organization, HYPE (Helping Young Professionals Engage). On a personal note, I just purchased my first house and rescued a pit bull named Petey!
