5 Women in Obama’s Cabinet

December 22, 2008 | NeW Staff

I posted a few weeks ago about Obama’s Cabinet selections.  Of his 20 announced Cabinet-level selections, Obama has included five women.  He chose Gov. Janet Napolitano as Homeland Security Secretary, Sen. Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State, Rep. Hilda Solis as Secretary of Labor, Susan Rice as United Nations Ambassador and Lisa Jackson as Environmental Protection Agency chief.

The number of women is similar to that of the original Cabinets chosen by President Bush and President Clinton.  Thus far, Obama is not the revolutionary leader of women’s rights that feminists hoped for.  This has upset many feminists.
