3 Reasons to Attend NeW’s Student Leadership Training

June 5, 2014 | Krystal

On Saturday, June 21, 2014, after the excitement of the Networking Reception and National Conference is over, members of NeW’s campus chapters will have the opportunity to continue in the excitement of the weekend with NeW’s Student Leadership Training. This training session will take place from 9:30am to 12:30pm at the Leadership Institute, and is open to both current chapter leaders and women seeking to become involved with NeW’s chapter leadership.

RSVP by emailing [email protected] by June 12th!

If you are not completely sold on the idea of staying in DC for an extra day, here are three reasons why you should stick around and join us for our Student Leadership Training!

1. Personal Growth.

One of our goals at NeW is to empower women with the necessary tools for effective and efficient leadership inside and outside of this organization. For this reason, much of the information, advice, and guidance that you will receive at the Student Leadership Training will be of use to your development as a leader beyond just your NeW campus chapter. In addition to the mere value of the content presented, the facilitators of this event are experienced leaders whose examples alone can be invaluable tools if imitated. If approached with the proper attitude, the lessons you will learn during this training will prepare you to be a good leader in any situation, not just a better chapter leader. In addition to enhancing your resume, you will be enhancing yourself.

2. Chapter Growth Opportunities

The test of anyone’s personal growth is whether or not that individual inspires growth in others. During the Student Leadership Training event, you will be introduced to a plethora of techniques, approaches, and ideas designed for inspiring chapter growth. How to recruit and maintain members, how to plan campus events, and how to encourage chapter unity are among the training topics that you will be exposed to. Further, you will be leaving this event with the knowledge and tools necessary to guide and train future leaders yourself.

3. Join the network within the Network.

A unique aspect of NeW’s organizational structure is that it allows for significant networking on different levels. After networking on a national level at the Networking Reception on Thursday, June 19, you will be able to network on a chapter-to-chapter level at the Student Leadership Training event on June 21. You will have the opportunity to connect with other chapter leaders in order to facilitate future collaborations between chapters and greater organizational unity. Additionally, this is an, otherwise rare, opportunity to cultivate lasting friendships and future professional relationships with several like-minded, intelligent women.

The worth of attending the Student Leadership Training cannot be overstated. While this event is free for attendees, the space available is limited. Please RSVP with Alyssa Condrey ([email protected]) by June 12th.

We hope to see you at the NeW National Conference on the 19th-21st!
