During the 2014 college commencement season, two distinguished women were slated as commencement speakers, but later withdrew after protests from leftist student groups. Condoleezza Rice, former Secretary of State under President George W. Bush, and IMP Chief Christine Lagarde withdrew their appearances at Rutgers University and Smith College, respectively.
