Republicans United?

The House passed the $819 BILLION stimulus package today. There has been much talk of a need for rejuvenation and unity in the Republican party especially after the last election. Well, at least we know most Republicans still know enough to say no to an obnoxious spending bill. Not a single Republican voted for the bill. Unfortunately, the party has already lost too much ground in the House to be very effective, as the bill passed 244 to 188.

My favorite enlightened woman brilliantly argued:

“One week and one day ago, our new President delivered a great inaugural address … which I believe is a great blueprint for the future,” said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.

It was quite an inspirational address. But read the
text and tell me if that is a  “blueprint” to you (Merriam-Webster: blueprint: a detailed plan or program of action”). Please.

I personally feel a little sick to my stomach, but it was relieving to see, through the Republican vote, that not everyone views government spending as the cure to all that ails you. I just hope that the resistance to this quasi-Socialist mentality is persistent enough to eventually have an impact. Is anyone else downing Pepto-Bismol to combat ulcers over where this sort of spending will take us?
