This holiday also can bring out the often dormant ultra-feminist in your average college liberal. Every year I have been at the University of Virginia, around this time of year, some students celebrate "VDAY", as Karin mentioned. I won't get started on our annual Valentines Day and the Vagina Monologues discussion, because I don't really care very much for Valentine's Day in the first place.
However, I did want to point out that I did think it was interesting that "VDAY" is being held the weekend after Valentines Day. Have the Feminist given up "high jacking" the traditional holiday? Or does this scheduling allow the average college girl to have her cake and eat it too? This weekend, she will go to dinner with the boyfriend, get flowers and dream about love. The next weekend, the traditional gender roles are out the window!
