How do you define a gentleman?

I would define a gentleman as someone who respects and helps others. Respect is the key component when defining a gentleman. They must show that they genuinely care about the well being of others. This means putting others before themselves and being willing to help at anytime. Things as simple as holding a door open for someone or giving them a ride to class can turn someone’s day from bad to great.

Do gentleman still exist? Why or why not?

I believe gentleman still exist. There are men that greatly care about the proper way in which people are supposed to be treated. However, I believe that society has made it tougher for men to go against the grain and become gentleman. Surrounding yourself with quality influences help the process of being a gentleman; but with most things, doing the right thing is usually not the easiest.

Who are your role models for gentlemanly behavior in your daily life or in pop culture?

My dad has been the greatest influence in my gentlemanly behavior. He instilled in me the proper values and qualities that it takes to be a gentleman. He also demonstrates this type of behavior in his daily life. Being able to see what it is like to be a gentleman made it much easier to apply those traits in my life.

What is something you have done or said that exemplifies a gentleman?

I think being able to selfless is very important. Being able to tell someone that you have made mistakes and admitting that you are not perfect helps you be on the same level as you are helping. If someone looks at you and thinks you are perfect, it is untrue and it makes it more difficult for you to help and relate to that person.
